Siberian Larch (Larix sibirica)

Larch is a wood valued for its tough, waterproof and durable qualities; top quality knot-free timber is in great demand for building yachts and other small boats, for exterior cladding of buildings and interior panelling. The timber is resistant to rot when in contact with the ground, and is suitable for use as posts and in fencing.

The Siberian Larch is widely grown as a timber crop in northern Europe, valued for its fast growth and disease resistance. Larch, when exposed to UV rays actually becomes stronger over time as the sap in the wood  reacts with the sun. An excellent choice for greenhouse construction!

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate panels are the industry standard for greenhouse coverings. More durable than plastic film but more cost effective than glass, polycarbonate is the covering of choice for growers large and small. Numerous tests have proven that the material is almost unbreakable. Test scenarios were carried out using rocks and wooden posts in an attempt to break the polycarbonate panels.

Polycarbonate weighs not only less than glass but it also has special UV coating that helps to protect plants growing inside the greenhouse from sunlight and extremes of heat.

Due to the insulating effects, polycarbonate greenhouses are far more efficient at maintaining the internal temperature. This provides a better environment in which your plants can grow. Another factor that accounts for the popularity of this material is the way in which it diffuses sunlight. This means you will not have to provide as much shade for your garden plants when compared to traditional glass greenhouses.

The insulation characteristics of polycarbonate greenhouses means that plants reared inside them will grow at a faster rate. Also, the ability to maintain a correct and constant temperature inside the greenhouse means you can grow plants pretty much all year round.

Fasteners

Fasteners and hardware : Due to the humid nature of a green house

regular carbon steel hardware will begin to deteriorate quite quickly

and therefore all the hardware and fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers,

screws and hinges) used in a Vivero green house are manufactured from

stainless steel ; bolts, nuts, washers, screws and hinges.
